What you need to know, for picking your wedding venue.
Here’s a few Things to Consider
1. How many guests do you want, and are they able and willing to travel?
What is your dream wedding. Do you want something small or blown out. Do you envision it at the beach or in a church. While your wedding is obviously about you it is also about the people you care about, your guests. If your closest friends all have kids, it may be difficult for them to travel, so you need to consider a local venue or at lease a venue that has reasonable places to stay close enough, and a venue that is easily accessible via car or even plane. If relatives are old, you must consider that as well when choosing your location. How bout the grandparents. You might really want to get married on the beach in Puerto Rico, but that could very well be impossible for gramma and gramps. If you don’t care about having anyone there for your wedding then it doesn’t matter, but if you do you need to think about them. You will never be able to please everyone but it’s important that you make it work for your guests so they will actually attend.
2. Do you want a religious ceremony in a church?
Many people do want a church wedding, but here’s a few things to think about…
It’s important to book the church or ceremony location before you book the reception venue. Some religious venues have specific dos and don’ts so you should look into that before you book. If you want to do it in a Catholic church you can probably have any number of priests in the area marry you. call around, and get recommendations on who does good work for a wedding officiant. Some priests really know how to make it about the couple getting married while others act like it’s just another Sunday Mass.
If you want to be married outside the church than your options are much greater. Ask family members for input on the a religious venue. You always thought that your grandmother really wanted you to be married in the Catholic Church. But ask her, she’s getting old and her hard lines may have softened. You may be surprised that she would be fine with you getting married on the beach. Even if you are religious, speak with your priest or pastor or rabbi. They may suggest some options for you that you never even thought of.
Each venue will have very different things that they will do or won’t do. For instance some wedding venues may let you bring in your own alcohol while others won’t. This could save lots of money and it’s relatively easy to do yourself. Some places will let you bring in your own decorations and some won’t ask how much each item is and ask for a line by line breakdown. You may be surprised to know that they charge for little things like napkins. Also depending on the venue, you may have to do some prep work yourself. If you are on a budget you could save big money on little things like these. Put the money towards other things for your wedding that you can not do on your own. Make sure you know what will be done for you and what you will have to do yourself. Usually money talks but sometimes places just won’t accommodate your wishes.
Take care in planning your wedding venues. It is an important decision that may make or break your wedding day. Also don’t forget to hire the perfect wedding videographer… Yup that’s right… http://jaxvideo.com JAX Video. Thanks
